El Paso, Texas — Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, as part of HCA Healthcare, today announced the results of its annual We Show Up for Our Communities days of service volunteer initiative. In alignment with National Volunteer Month, Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare colleagues donated their time and expertise to help improve the health and well-being of the communities they serve.
“El Paso has always been a community that shows up for one another, and Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare colleagues are proud to be part of that tradition,” Art Garza, chief executive officer of Del Sol Medical Center, said. “The impact of the volunteer work they put in is a reflection of that connection and the pride our teams have in giving back to their community.”
During the initiative, more than 100 Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare colleagues volunteered more than 400 hours with six local nonprofits. Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare’s support helped address some of El Paso’s most critical needs, including food insecurity, support for unhoused elderly individuals and women, and initiatives aimed at preserving the city’s natural environment.
“Volunteering alongside local nonprofits reminds us that improving community health happens in many different ways,” Alejandro Romero, chief executive officer of Las Palmas Medical Center, said. “We’re proud to support organizations that are creating opportunities, providing essential resources and helping El Paso thrive.”
Across the nation, HCA Healthcare’s We Show Up for Our Communities initiative resulted in:
- 1,866 nonprofits supported across the nation
- 9,790 colleagues who volunteered to meet local needs
- More than 41,800 hours dedicated to volunteering in the communities HCA Healthcare serves
In total for 2025, HCA Healthcare colleagues volunteered over 350,000 hours, and over 10,000 charitable organizations were supported through donations and volunteering across the country. Additionally, more than 1,300 colleagues served on a nonprofit board.
Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare has a long history of investing in the El Paso community. Since 2010, Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare has provided nearly $2 billion in charity care. The healthcare system has also donated more than $2.4 million in community grants and sponsorships to support El Paso’s quality of life organizations and improve healthcare for West Texans.
