El Paso, Texas — Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, part of HCA Healthcare, announced today that its hospitals, Del Sol Medical Center and Las Palmas Medical Center, received a 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades for providing exceptional, patient-centered care. This distinction places Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare facilities among the top 5% of hospitals for their commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care. This is the eighth consecutive year that Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare facilities have received this recognition.
“Patient safety is at the center of everything we do,” Art Garza, chief executive officer of Del Sol Medical Center, said. “This honor from Healthgrades underscores our continued focus on delivering exceptional care and achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.”
Recognition on this list is based solely on patient outcomes. To determine the top-performing hospitals for patient safety, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates for approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The annual study found that patients treated in hospitals that received the 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower chance of experiencing certain complications than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals.
“Our teams are deeply committed to delivering safe, high-quality care to every patient we serve,” Alejandro Romero, chief executive officer of Las Palmas Medical Center, said. “Earning this recognition for the eighth consecutive year reflects that commitment and the trust our community places in us.”
Earlier this year, Del Sol Medical Center and Las Palmas Medical Center were also named on the 2026 Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals list for being within the top 5% of hospitals in the country for clinical excellence. Also based exclusively on patient outcomes, the annual designation is reserved for hospitals that demonstrate superior performance in providing care for conditions and procedures across multiple specialty lines and areas.
HCA Healthcare supports a culture in which patient safety is embedded in everyday care delivery. For more than a decade, the organization has operated a federally listed Patient Safety Organization (PSO) that partners with hospitals to strengthen clinical processes, advance evidence-based safety practices and facilitate enterprise-wide learning. Insights gained across facilities are systematically shared to promote consistency, advance adoption of proven practices and enhance the reliability of care across the organization.
