Emergency care

Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

Emergency rooms in El Paso, Texas

When an emergency happens, every second matters. At Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare you can count on expert, compassionate care close to home.

Our ERs are open 24/7, staffed by highly trained physicians, nurses and specialists who are ready to handle everything from minor injuries to life-threatening conditions. Whether it's chest pain, a serious accident, or a child's sudden illness, we're here to provide fast, advanced treatment when you need it most.

Our emergency care services

In addition to our hospital-based emergency rooms, our freestanding emergency care centers provide care for all types of acute injuries, illnesses, and accidents in a smaller, more specialized environment. FSERs are an extension of our primary hospital campuses so patients can be transferred to Del Sol Medical Center or Las Palmas Medical Center if inpatient care is needed.

Conditions we treat in our ERs

You may not be able to plan for a medical emergency, but you can plan where to go if one occurs. Our facilities around the area are here, ready to respond as promptly as possible. ERs are better equipped to treat serious illnesses and injuries.

Emergency care is appropriate for the following conditions:

  • Chest and abdominal pain
  • Concussion or head trauma
  • Fractures
  • Heart attack
  • High fevers
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Severe burns
  • Snake bites
  • Stroke
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Uncontrollable bleeding

Heart attack and stroke treatment

In our ERs, every second counts when it comes to heart attack and stroke care. As recognized leaders in both, we use advanced technology and evidence-based protocols to quickly identify symptoms, restore blood flow and begin critical treatment to protect your heart and brain. Our experienced team of board-certified emergency physicians, nurses and specialists are specially trained and ready to respond at a moment's notice.

If you or someone else experiences chest pain, sudden weakness, trouble speaking or facial drooping, call 911 immediately or seek care at the nearest ER.

Trauma care

Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare trauma centers are home to highly skilled trauma teams that are trained to respond quickly to emergencies such as car accidents, serious falls, and other critical emergencies. We have both Level II and Level III Trauma Centers that are equipped with advanced technology to ensure prompt and appropriate care for critically injured patients.

Urgent care clinics are a convenient option for treating common illnesses and minor injuries. However, unlike ERs, most urgent care clinics have limited hours and are not equipped to handle life-threatening or serious conditions.

We have seven CareNow® Urgent Care clinics throughout the El Paso region for less serious illnesses and injuries. Our experienced healthcare providers treat a wide range of conditions, including cold and flu symptoms, ear infections, minor cuts and bruises, sprains and strains and urinary tract infections (UTIs). We also offer on-site X-rays, lab testing and vaccinations, making it easy to get the care you need in one visit.

If you're unsure whether your symptoms require a trip to the ER or urgent care, Consult-A-Nurse® is here to help. Available 24/7, this free, confidential phone line connects you with registered nurses who can answer your health questions, help you understand your symptoms and guide you to the right level of care. Call (844) 70-NURSE (844)-706-8773 anytime, day or night for answers, advice and peace of mind.
