Jose's story

Jose's son, Jesus, helped save his father's life by donating one of his kidneys to him, after Jose was diagnosed with kidney failure.

Jose waves to the camera, while lying in a patient bed wearing a medical gown and mask, following his kidney transplant.

A kidney transplant can take years of waiting — but for Jose Luis Cisneros, time was not on his side. Diagnosed with kidney failure, he faced a difficult decision: begin dialysis or join the long transplant waiting list. But his son, Jesus, saw another option — one that would change both their lives forever.

"Why wouldn’t I do this for my dad?" Jesus shared. "If I had the chance to improve his quality of life, there was no hesitation."

With unwavering love and determination, Jesus stepped up as a living donor. Through compatibility testing, he was found to be a match. The life-saving surgery was performed at Las Palmas Medical Center, where expert care ensured a successful kidney transplant.

For the Cisneros family, this journey was more than a medical procedure — it was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of living donation.
