Scholarship program
Information about our scholarships
Our hospital's volunteer committee sponsors a program that grants scholarships to students seeking careers in the medical field. The program is funded primarily by proceeds from the gift shop, which is maintained and operated by the committee.
How to apply
Student applicants must meet the following requirements, per Article 8.16 of our bylaws:
- Attending an accredited medical school, an accredited medical instructional facility located in El Paso County, or be under the direction and supervision of an accredited medical school located in El Paso County, which meets our criteria and requirements
- Classifying as a sophomore, junior or senior, as postgraduate applications will not be considered
- Pursuing a degree in a medical field
- Residing in El Paso County in El Paso, Texas
Applications are available at the Del Sol Medical Center gift shop, volunteer information station, and the Scholarship Financial Aid offices at El Paso Community College and University of Texas at El Paso. You may also download the scholarship application. Return the completed application to:

Applications received after our fall and spring semester deadlines will not be considered. The fall deadline is in October, while the spring deadline is in June. Contact us directly for exact application due dates.
A scholarship application consists of two pages, including the three required attachments. No photocopies of transcripts or letters of recommendation are allowed. Contact our office for information about the attachments.
Scholarships must be applied for each semester. Semester grants are available as follows:
- El Paso Community College: $500.00
- Texas Tech University Health Sciences: $1,000.00
- University of Texas at El Paso: $1,000.00
