Breast care services we offer
Our women's health doctors combine convenience, comfort and compassion, prioritizing the least invasive techniques to help bring you the health and clarity you deserve.
Breast imaging
Our specialists use ultrasound, also known as sonography, to perform routine screenings and detect potential breast abnormalities. Ultrasound is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce precise real-time images, which can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating disease.
Breast biopsies
A breast biopsy is a procedure that removes a small sample of breast tissue for laboratory testing. The tissue is examined to identify and diagnose any suspicious or concerning findings in a mammogram or ultrasound. Biopsy results will determine if you need additional care.
Mammography
Mammograms use multiple X-rays to gain greater internal visibility of the breast and detect abnormalities that can lead to future health complications. Women who do not show any signs, symptoms or observable breast issues are especially advised to receive a mammogram. The goal of a mammogram is to detect any cancer before clinical signs are noticeable. Early detection is the best tool we have in combating breast cancer and other serious breast issues.
Our mammography services are accredited by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). We also follow the standards set forth by the national Mammography Standards Act (MQSA), and are committed to providing education and support for all women, especially those diagnosed with breast cancer.
When to get a mammogram
According to the American Cancer Society, there are some guidelines that are recommended. These include:
- Women ages 40 to 44 should have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms if they wish to do so.
- Women ages 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year.
- Women 55 and older should switch to mammograms every two years, or can continue with yearly screenings.
Breast reconstruction surgery
If any medical concerns arise from a mammogram or other imaging exam, treatments may include breast augmentations, advanced breast reconstruction surgery and a fine needle biopsy procedure.
We offer some of the most advanced microsurgical technologies for breast reconstruction. A deep inferior epigastric posterior (DIEP) flap is a surgical procedure used to rebuild breast tissue lost during a mastectomy. This technique transplants excess living fat from below the belly button the chest area to give volume and shape. As a gentler approach, it is typically preferred over more standard reconstruction techniques.
