Merging of two HCA Hospitals – Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center
Effective August 1, 2009, Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center, two HCA sister facilities, merged to become a single hospital, Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare. Both hospitals will now operate under one hospital license, one medical staff and one Board of Trustees.
Although the communities surrounding the two facilities will not notice many changes with the merger, the hospitals will experience improved efficiencies, reduced overhead and increased coordination between the two campuses. As Chief Executive Officer of Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare, I am ably served by a superb team of senior leaders, including Hank Hernandez, CEO-Las Palmas, Jacob Cintron, CEO-Del Sol, Caryn Iverson, Chief Nursing Executive and Julie Hayes-Perez, Chief Financial Officer.
The citizens of El Paso can continue to expect the same commitment to quality and outstanding level of customer service that have always been provided at Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical Center. Del Sol is the home of the region’s first Center of Excellence program in Diabetes Education. In the area of Cardiology, Del Sol has the area’s only Heart Failure Center and was the first hospital in the area to become an accredited Chest Pain Center.
