Jorge Acosta, MD

A board-certified general surgeon who specializes in bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Dr. Acosta began practicing at Del Sol Medical Center in 2004 after completing a fellowship in minimally-invasive and bariatric surgery from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He was one of the first fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons in El Paso, Texas and is the Co-Medical Director for the Del Sol Bariatric Center.

Dr. Acosta received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University. He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston before completing his residency in general surgery at the Texas Tech Health Center in El Paso. Dr. Acosta is a member of the American Medical association; the American Society for Bariatric Surgery; the Southwest Association of Hispanic American Physicians; the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society for Laprondoscopic Surgeons.
